I admire the clouds
For never getting tired
The skies I like,
For its peace
That sometimes I ask
What if they have eyes to see?
A world below they witness
Would they go away and leave us be?
But maybe if they do have eyes
I’m happy they are still there
A great love I see
Thank you for not leaving us be.
note: I wrote this poem when I was in college. It was when the demands and the pressure of my academics are a little heavier to bear. My friends and I used to take a breather, sometimes we cut classes (I am so sorry for all the classes we ditched, huhu) and walked around our campus. We would always stay in our grassland and just sit there, admiring the clouds and the sky. That was the moment I wondered if they can feel the exhaustion too.
In my head, I was like, if they do, would they just run away and find a place where they cannot be bothered? Because that’s exactly what I wanted to do. Just run. But I was overwhelmed with a sense of peace of comfort that they, too, feel a little heavy sometimes. But they don’t run. It just rains.
To me, realizing that, is so powerful.
